World Book Day Sparks Imagination at Bluecoat

Excitement was high at Great Torrington Bluecoat C of E Primary School as World Book Day helped pupils escape to far off lands and inspiring places!

The theme for Bluecoat this year was to be innovative and eco-friendly by making or re-using a costume to create a brand new character. For example, Swirlock Holmes - the detective with swirling patterns and an invisible sidekick; The Iron Manny - half Iron Man, half Footballing legend; Te Fiti - an island that cares about nature and is extremely eco-friendly; The Cool Cat in The Hat - similar to The Cat in the Hat, only cooler!

Lots of activities took place across the school including drama games involving role play and conscience alleys, inventing stories about the children's new characters by using storymaps or comic strips and making plasticine models of the children's characters. It really was an inspiring and creative day where everyone was able to celebrate their love of reading.
