Whilst most of Year 6 were in Bude, those not attending the residential spent their week completing a ‘Bees, Beetles and Butterflies’ art project. The project taught children about sketchbooks, observational drawing, mixed media collage and Pop Art. They consolidated the week by making an art display of all their learning inspired by bees, beetles or butterflies which was organised into a gallery and shared parents on the Friday afternoon. Thank you to those parents who were able to stop by. For those who could not attend please have a look at the art displayed here along with some of the children’s comments about their week.
Megan - "I have really enjoyed this week 9/10! I loved the vibrant colours we used in the pop art. I’ve had to use my building learning power to find another way at times."
Ted - "Despite not being in for some of the work, what I have been in for I have found quite fun. My favourite part was the sketching-I chose a bug."
Jeniffer - "I enjoyed it because it was a creative week. My favourite part was the pop art because it was so colourful."
Madison - "I enjoyed this week because I really enjoy doing art. I enjoyed using watercolours over my drawing. I enjoyed the collaging."
Jiya - "It was difficult but it was fun. I think I became better the more I practised. My favourite part was collaging with buttons and gold paper. We also helped one another with our pop art."
Stan - "I learnt not to give up this week! I found it difficult but if it went wrong I had another go."
Isabelle - "I had to use my imagination when creating my messy collage."
Oscar - "I had to concentrate on the key details of my sketch. I really enjoyed that."
Maikls - "We had to work well on our own this week. We don’t get a lot of time for that normally."
Sienna - "I worked with Mia this week to create a collage- it was quicker because we could both be creative together."
Maggie - "I thought using watercolours would be hard but really enjoyed using them over my sketch."
Rowan - "I enjoyed this week as it has taught me to appreciate art."
