As part of their learning about Ancient Egypt, Year 4 had a visit from Emily, a local archaeologist with lots of experience with the Castle Hill dig that some of our pupils had the opportunity to visit in Autumn Term, as well as elsewhere in the world.
Emily talked to the children about what ‘Archaeology’ is and showed how it is planned and put into action with the Castle Hill dig. She answered lots of questions too, including those about Ancient Egypt which really supported the children's learning.
Emily showed the children an authentic ‘shabti’ from the time of the ancient Egyptians - a stone carved sculpture put in tombs to go with the person to the afterlife. The shabti was intended to help them, e.g. a musician shabti would play music for them.
