Year 2's Wonderful Victorian Day!

On Friday 17th October, our Year 2 children stepped back in time to experience what life was like for Victorian school children, and what a fantastic day it was! Dressed in wonderful costumes, the children arrived looking as though they had just stepped out of the 19th century, and everyone looked the part. As soon as they arrived, they were immersed in the strict routines of a Victorian classroom, lining up silently, standing tall, and even taking part in a fun “hands and nails inspection” from their teachers. The morning began with traditional prayers and lessons in manners, as the children practised their bows and curtseys, much to everyone’s amusement. Reading and writing followed, where the class tried their hand at neat Victorian cursive and copied moral sayings. It was lovely to see such concentration and pride in their work. Afterwards came “drill time,” a lively session of marching, stretching, and clapping in perfect formation, which was great fun and good exercise too. Playt...

Shiver Me Timbers! Pirate Day in Nursery

On the morning of Friday 4th July, the nursery children discovered a treasure map in their pirate ship which took them on a treasure hunt down in the Forest School. They followed the map to find the X and found some real pirate treasure! They also practiced walking the plank avoiding the big shark below in the sea and got creative making pirate jewellery and telescopes. A fun day was had by all!

Daisy the Therapy Dog Visits Year 4

On Monday 26th January, Year 4 pupils met Daisy the therapy dog, who came to visit as part of their Experience Day for this half term’s English Unit called ‘Feast’. ‘Feast’ is a short animation about a homeless dog who was adopted off the street and was adapting to life in his new home. The aim of Daisy’s visit was to give the Year 4 pupils a view of the world through a dog’s eyes and to try and imagine her thoughts and feelings of things such as food, walks and life around her. Daisy enjoyed meeting all the Year 4 pupils, especially the attention and strokes and they all enjoyed learning about her life journey so far, which the children are finding has many similarities at times to Winston's life in the animation film!
