Senior Citizen Christmas Lunch

On Wednesday 11th December, Bluecoat C of E Primary School played host to almost fifty senior citizens for their annual Christmas lunch. A popular event in the school calendar, the guests were seated at the tables adorned with Christmas decorations and then treated to roast beef with all the trimmings and Christmas cake and pudding, all served by pupils in year 6. A number of guests were served their meals at their homes due to being unable to make the journey to school.

With full tummies, they relaxed back in their seats while the children led a programme of festive entertainment including a Christmas song by the reception children, the 'Christmas Alphabet' by the Bluecoat Group, 'I Hear Angels Singing' performed by Year 2 and 'In the Bleak Midwinter' by Year 4. The Year 5 children performed a Viking song as well as a special request of 'Morning has Broken'. Year 6 wrapped up the programme with 'Stille Nacht' ('Silent Night' in German) plus the ever popular war time sing alongs, 'It's a Long Way to Tipperary' and 'Pack up Your Troubles'.

We thank all the guests for coming and making the occasion so special; The Rotary Club for providing transport and The Cavaliers for their financial support.

Merry Christmas one and all!
