The Hat Show by 1M

Over the last few weeks, 1M have been very busy learning their new topic ‘Bright Lights, Big Cities’. They have been using a story by Steve Antony called ‘The Queen’s Hat’ which is about the Queen’s hat being blown around the city of London.

The  story inspired the children to learn facts about London as well as the Queen, especially her love for hats. The children were fascinated to discover all the different hats the late Queen had worn over the last 50 years of her reign and all the different places she had worn them. The children discovered that the late Queen had a real passion for wearing hats which always coordinated with her outfits.

With this knowledge, they were able to design and make their own unique hats and wrote their own instructions on how to do this. They also designed leaflets about London’s famous landmarks which looked simply amazing.

After all this great learning, the children were very excited to show off all their knowledge about London and their hats to their parents and carers who joined the children for a special assembly. The children were very excited to show off their hats and their learning to their grown ups. What an amazing Hat Show!
