Year 5 have been reading "Kick" by Mitch Johnson, a story about Budi, a football loving boy who lives in Indonesia and works in a football boot factory to support his family. Taking inspiration from the story, the children then wrote persuasive letters to influential people, asking them to consider whether child labour has been used to make footballs and sponsored football kits.
Letters were sent to Mr Newall, local football coaches and well-known football players. Lennie wrote to Mr Newall, who has been inspired to think more carefully about where we buy our curriculum resources from. Poppy wrote to Bukayo Saka and was thrilled to receive a reply!
