Bluecoat were delighted to be contacted by Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin and Danielle North regarding the redevelopment of Calf Street Play Area. They have been fundraising for the past year along with an Action Group formed by members of the community. They have successfully raised £100,000 to be spent on much needed re-design of the existing play area in the town.
Councillor Cottle-Hunkin wanted to gather the opinions of our pupils for the three designs that had been put to tender for the redevelopment, as part of the consultation process. On Monday 18th November, both Councillor Cottle-Hunkin and Danielle North met with our Pupil Councillors and shared the designs.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the process and felt privileged to have been consulted. They offered excellent, constructive feedback on all 3 designs but there was however a clear favourite with the majority of pupils choosing the 3rd design they were shown. The details of the design are due to be announced very soon with work starting on the park in the early part of 2020.
