Introduction to India Day

Report by Jess A and Elsie B

On the 19th of November 2019, Year 6 pupils learnt all about India. Our visitor, Natasha Koshti-Symons, taught Bollywood dancing to us and we performed it to some of our parents and carers at the end of the day. Natasha has trained with a professional Bollywood dancer she said that she was very strict.

During the day, Natasha taught us about all the different Bollywood hand positions. There was the flower, pinch and base. Before break Natasha painted some beautiful henna on the back of our hands. She used a substance called ’Magic Henna’ which dries fairly quickly. She told us that the black henna is very dangerous and can give you a burn.

Natasha’s father also came and helped with the music and told us facts about India. Later on, Natasha came into our classrooms and told us all about India. She showed us lots of Indian artefacts, jewellery and religious objects. We were able to smell some Indian scents. Natasha asked some of us to try on some of her Indian clothes including a sari which was almost the width of the room! They were very glittery and sparkly. We all had a fantastic day.
