Mazel Tov! Jewish Weddings in Year 1

Children in Year 1 had a wonderful time conducting Jewish weddings as part of their learning.

In Class 1M Bella - Mai and Henry 'got married' on the Valentine’s Day – 14th February 2020! Oscar was a marvellous Rabbi, leading the ceremony and Darcey impressed everyone by being an amazing DJ!

The class spent over three weeks organising this wedding. They helped to make the flowers, write the vows and prayers and everyone took part in the wedding service. This helped to bring the children’s learning about Jewish weddings to life. After the wedding ceremony children enjoyed their wedding reception with lots of yummy food, speeches and even a wedding disco. Children had plenty of time to party until the early hours of the afternoon!

Many thanks to the parents and carers who provided the cake (well done to Henry’s  nanny, it was delicious!), party food and flowers. Hip, hip, hooray to the new couple – Bella - Mai and Henry, or should we shout "Mazel Tov!!"

Valentine's Day was also a special occasion in class 1A when Joseph married his bushing bride, Ezme under the watchful eye of Rabbi Alfie. The children in the class made all the flowers for the venue, created wonderful wedding wishes and designed cards to display at the ceremony. The bride and groom were both walked down the aisle by their proud parents.

The groom never stopped smiling all day – although the bride had a few moments. (Try to spot the photo where she was with her mother in law!)

We had wonderful performances of Lewis Capaldi songs by our wedding singers, Jack and Archie  and the whole group sang the lovely Shalom song.

It was a special day and was enjoyed by all the wonderful and glamorous guests.
