Year 6 Pioneer and Trailblazer Day

As part of their ‘Pioneers and Trailblazers’ topic, Year 6 planned a ‘Trailblazer day’ on Tuesday 15th December.

All children were encouraged to dress up as a person that they believe to be a trailblazer. It could have been someone from the past (to link with their work on Charles Darwin or female scientists), someone from the present, or any other interpretation of the term ‘trailblazer’ that they wished! The children had the opportunity to discuss who their costume represented and why they had chosen that person.

Freya said: 'On Pioneers and Trailblazers Day we dressed up someone that inspired us or someone that has done something amazing for the world. I learned lots of facts about different people, including some people I had never heard of before.'

Poppy said: 'It was really fun to learn all about the pioneers we dressed up as. We loved the fun team challenges like building the highest tower and they really inspired us to work together.'
