Year 6 Launch Global Week

This week is Global Week here at Bluecoat and Year 6 have got things off to a 'fantastique' start with their French Day. Children were able to dress appropriately for the occasion and some chose to don the classic beret or paint a french flag on their cheek.

The day involved sampling some French food including brie, camembert, roquefort, pain au chocolat, brioche and croissants. They expressed in French whether they liked or disliked what they had tasted. They also used 'merci' and 's'il te plait' for the day.

They also got creative and tried to make the Eiffel Tower out of different resources including newspapers, marshmallows and spaghetti, artstraws and lego. They had a competition to see who could build the strongest and tallest tower. They learnt lots of information about where France is in the world and enjoyed learning and singing songs in French.

What the children had to say:

"We tried different french foods such as camembert. They were great" - Daisy.

"We built Eiffel Towers out of art straws. It was fun" - Allannah

"I loved French day, it was fun because we learnt about French cities and how to count in French. The one thing I really enjoyed was tasting French food. There was cheese, breads and pain au chocolats" - Dillon
