Year 5's Awesome Author Visit

On Tuesday 5th October, award-winning children's author John Dougherty visited Bluecoat to give an assembly as part of the Appledore Book Festival Schools' Week Programme, and the Year 5's couldn't wait!

Author, poet and sometime songwriter John is best known for his Stinkbomb and Ketchup Face series. The children listened attentively as he read an excerpt from one of the books. The assembly was entertaining and inspiring and the children came up with some great questions for John to answer.

Here's what the children thought about it:

Megan "I liked listening to John singing the Stinkbomb and Ketchup face theme tune."

Freddie "It was great when he read us a bit of his book - he stopped on a cliffhanger!"

Howi "I think it was amazing to actually see the author who wrote the Stinkbomb and Ketchupface books - he was so funny!"

Connor "I liked the song he sang at the end - it was funny and a bit silly!"

Troy "I think his Stinkbomb and Ketchupface books are very funny."

Evie "I really like the theme tune!"

Danny "It was great that he told us how he got the ideas for the characters in his stories."

Rhyder "His songs were really funny!"
