Reception Children make Links with Polish Pre-School

Here at Bluecoat we value being part of a global community  - so much so it is one of our key curriculum drivers. We have made some lasting partnerships over the years with schools in other countries and this time we are thrilled that children in Reception are getting involved.

Reception children always learn about the world they live in as part of their topic work, looking at different cultures and traditions. As an extension to their global learning, they have now made links with Kraina Marzeń Pre-School in Opole. Known as the 'Land of Dreams', it is an expert facility of Claire Selby's Universal Bilingualism Program. Based on excellent methodological materials, they have created a model of fully bilingual care for children from 6 months to 7 years as part of nursery and kindergarten care.

Each group of children in the pre-school has an English-speaking teacher or tutor who will familiarise the child with the second language. The staff speak Polish and English to children during the whole day and English ceases to be a foreign language and slowly becomes the second language of the children.

Back in December, our Reception children send off a card to the children at the pre-school. They were very excited to take the card to the office to be franked and posted.

Thanks to Ewa Maslanek for making the introduction!
