North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Visit

On the 3rd and 4th November, Year 3 and 4 were very fortunate to be able to take part in ‘A Pledge for Nature’ to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Biospheres around the world.

Jack Woolfenden and his colleague Emily came to present an assembly explaining about what Biospheres are and the importance of them, as well as specifically our local UNESCO biosphere within the river catchment of the Torridge and Taw.

After, each class took part in several activities over a half day to learn more about rivers and celebrate the anniversary.  We finally wrote and recited a haiku poem in groups/pairs about rivers they made using Andy Goldsworthy style art in the playground.

We are planning to put a display up in the Plough through which this has been organised and linked with our school.
