All the Fun of the Fayre!

On Friday 9th December the FoTB were thrilled to be able to hold their first big fundraising event as a new committee, and the first Christmas Fayre since the pandemic!

Doors opened after school and the hall soon filled with the hustle and bustle of Christmas.  The Bluecoat Choir made a special appearance and there were plenty of stalls offering refreshments, tombola, raffle and some wonderful handmade, artisan gifts including local trader Krafty Chris. The Great Torrington Commons Conservators had their wine or water stall which proved very popular and pre-loved uniform was available for anyone that wanted it. There were also children's crafts including lino printing with Mrs Blease and gonk painting, where the children used their handprint to create the popular Christmas gnomes! Huge thanks to Jenny Jessop, Coop member Pioneer for Torrington, for the kind donation of goodies for the cake stall.

No Christmas Fayre would quite be complete without the jolly fellow himself, and children were able to visit Santa and his elves in their festive grotto. There was even the opportunity to greet and groom one of his 'reindeer' while they waited! A special thanks to Freddie and Buster the horse for this exciting addition to the Fayre.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everybody who contributed to the event, from the weeks of preparation beforehand, the 'all hands on deck' during the event and of course, the clean up afterwards. Each contribution was valued and appreciated.

The FoTB are keen to plan a schedule of events for 2023 including film nights, discos, bingo, as well as the larger scale events at Easter and Summer. These events are loved by the children, bring the community together and raise much needed funds for the school. The committee is dwindling and we are keen to hear from people who could come on board and help plan these events. Please email fotb@bluecoat-learn.org to express your interest.

All that remains to say is have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic Christmas break.
