Year 5 have been enjoying visits from PC Mathew Young from Devon and Cornwall Police during the autumn term as part of the Mini Police programme. The children have been proudly wearing their “Mini Police” hats and hi-vis jackets during the sessions, and have carried their special ID cards! Each week, they have learned about online safety, bullying, and had many opportunities to ask Mat lots of questions about his work. During his final visit, Mat brought some of his equipment and a patrol car, and the children were able to have a closer look at some of the things they have learnt about over the term. He also announced the winners of his online safety poster competition: Megan and Hermione - congratulations!
Year 5 have really enjoyed the sessions, and have learned a lot about keeping themselves safe online and the work of the police force. Due to its success, Year 4 will commence the programme next term.
