Chinese New Year in Reception

In Reception, they have been learning about Chinese New Year. The children read the story of how the emperor named each year after an animal in the race. This year celebrates the year of the Water Rabbit.

The children immersed themselves in their learning by all dressing in red and enjoying a Chinese meal. They made lanterns and dragons as well as building a 'temple' and the 'Great Wall of China'. Finally they all had a go at doing some Chinese writing and really enjoyed performing a dragon dance.
