Year 4 PGL Residential

This half term pupils from Years 3 and 4 headed to PGL for some outdoor pursuits. First it was the turn of Year 4, when 39 pupils had a fabulous 2 night/3 day residential at PGL Beam House in the Torridge Valley.

It began with a walk along the River Torridge which linked in with their Rivers topic, observing the river features that they had learnt about. They arrived at PGL in time for lunch before locating their accommodation and heading straight into the first activity. All the pupils had lots of fun mixed with challenges that pushed them out of their comfort zones, opportunities for team work, building their independence, communication and problem solving skills and lots more. The activities the children were able to take part in included zipwire, trapeze, challenge course, sensory, survivor, orienteering, archery, rifles and problem solving.

On the first evening, the children grouped together to do Balloon Splash with mixed results! None of the groups managed to save their balloon from the fall but a good attempt was made by all. On the final evening, they had a lovely time around the campfire, singing some funny (and quite repetitive!) songs and enjoyed a toasted marshmallow. If the children weren’t already tired, (and many were still full of beans from all the excitement), then the walk back to school was enough to ensure they all had a very good night's sleep once back home on Friday evening!
