Appledore Book Festival Author Visit - Steve Cole

The Appledore Book Festival is a charity founded in 2006 by Nick Arnold, author of Horrible Science, in a bid to raise money to save Appledore Library. His campaign brought the community together and was an overwhelming success.

Today, the Appledore Book Festival continues to thrive and grow - becoming one of the biggest cultural festivals in Devon, attracting world-class authors, speakers, and performers. Run almost exclusively by a team of volunteers, who do everything from stewarding the events to adorning the village with bunting, the Festival is a unique experience.

As part of the Festival, the five-day Schools Week offers talks and workshops to young people from preschool to Sixth Form with visits from acclaimed authors and illustrators.

Bluecoat were delighted to welcome author Steve Cole into school on Monday 25th September. Steve led a couple of dynamic assemblies which thoroughly engaged and entertained the children. Steve is a best-selling children’s author whose sales exceed three million copies. He is the slightly crazy, highly frantic, millions-selling, non-stop author of Astrosaurs, Cows In Action, Astrosaurs Academy, The Slime Squad, Z. Rex and many other books (including several original Doctor Who stories). He is well known to Schools Week, and has an exciting new series to share: the Swarm series is written with UK astronaut, Tim Peake. These action-packed adventures combine Tim Peake’s expertise in space age science and technology, with Steve’s fast-paced style.
