Teachers Rock Abbey Road Studios

On the 21st October, Bluecoat support staff members Sharon Balman and Julie Picillo had the amazing opportunity to record an album at Abbey Road Studios, as part of Teachers Rock. Teachers Rock is a high quality vocal learning platform for educators and young people who offer wholly inclusive singing experiences promoting music and well-being across their communities.

Sharon and Julie sang with an intergenerational choir, comprising 40 adults and 40 young people ranging from age 7 to 70 including Sharon's daughter Naomi and several other Bluecoat alumni.

They recorded seven tracks including the iconic 'Let It Be' along with an original track called 'Strength To Believe' written by Teachers Rock musical director Debbie Kent.

It was an incredible experience for the choir to record in the largest recording studio in the world and to use the famous Studio 2 (as used by The Beatles), as their Green Room.

All 80 members of the choir crossed the famous zebra crossing, which caused a bit of a traffic jam in London!

The Teacher Rock Choir will be singing once again at Exeter Cathedral Thursday 30th November and Friday 1st December 1st. They will be also joined by the fabulous Bluecoat choir on the Thursday evening which will be a wonderful experience for them all!
