Year 4 Step Back in Time at Wildwood Devon

On Monday 6th November, Year 4 donned their wellies and headed off to Wildwood Devon, near Exeter. Wildwood Devon is one of the leading British animal conservation charities in the UK and their education facilities include the Greenwood Centre, the Yurt Village and the Saxon Village complete with authentic kitchen and forge.

The visit was to support the learning that Year 4 have been doing in History about the Anglo Saxons. It gave the children a very real experience about what it was like in a Saxon village in the 9th Century. It included making their own spelt bread in the authentic kitchen, a blacksmiths with a real bellow and woodworking station where the children could turn and carve wood. There was also the opportunity to dress up in costumes, escape a maze and see some wild animals.

Thank you to the staff at Wildwood Devon for this fantastic experience.
