Netball Match Report - 14th November - Written by Emma
On Tuesday the 14th November, the Bluecoat netball team played in a competitive match against Monkleigh. The team members were: Megan S, Alexis S,Tilly C, Amelia B, Indi L and the captain of the match, Emma W.
In the first quarter it was off to a slow start. There were no goals scored during play but lots of goal attempts building the tension! The ball moved from end to end and Monkleigh played very well but the quarter eventually finished nil-nil.
During the second quarter, Monkleigh had picked up the pace and were doing better than us as they scored two great goals throughout the quarter - one at the start and one just before the whistle blew. We were trying our best to block all passes but unfortunately we were down 2-0 as we headed into the break, Monkleigh was ahead of us.
In the third quarter of the match, we had been picking the pace up as well. As we started to fight back Indi scored our first goal, making us determined to carry on.
In the last and final quarter, it was a tight battle between us but we concentrated and persevered. Megan then scored our second goal evening it out to 2 all. In the last few minutes of the game Emma had scored putting us in the lead. When the match finished we had won 3-2 and were very proud.
It was a really competitive match and everyone played our first league game brilliantly. Player of the match was Indi for her fantastic defence and attack skills!
Netball Match Report (1 of 3) - Tuesday 21st November - Written by Indi
In our first of three matches on Tuesday 21st November at Langtree MUGA, we played against Bradworthy who are a very competitive side! The team players were Tilly C, Nancy B, Megan S, Amelia B, Emma W, Alexis S and the team captain, Indi L. It was a very tough match and everyone gave it their best.
The ball went from end to end in the first quarter and it was getting intense. We made sure that our defence was tight and tried our best but they still scored with a brilliant goal from near the edge of the ‘D’.
We knew that we had to score to make it one all but in the second quarter no one scored and we held our own.
In the third quarter we were triumphant when Amelia scored for us making it one all.
In the final quarter, Bradworthy managed to score again so the final score was 2:1. We were told it was the closest result a team had had against Bradworthy yet!
The player of the match was Amelia for excellent all round performance.
Netball Match Report (2 of 3) - Tuesday 21st November - Writen by Tilly
In the second match, we played against St. Helens from Abbotsham. The team players were Indi L, Nancy B, Megan S, Emma W, Alexis S, Amelia B and team captain Tilly C.
The ball flew from end to end of the pitch it was a very tense game and everyone tried their best. They had a particularly strong scorer and although we had goal attempts the final score was 8:0 to them. I was the team captain and Megan was nominated player of match for her excellent skills in defence.
Netball Match Report (3 of 3) - Tuesday 21st November - Written by Megan
In our third and final match on Tuesday evening, we had Emma W, Amelia B, Indi L, Tilly C, Alexis S, Nancy B and team captain Megan S. We played against Langtree; there were no goals in the first quarter, however the opposing team managed to score in the second quarter, this is when it got grueling. In the third quarter, Nancy managed to get a goal for Bluecoat. Midway through the fourth quarter, Langtree scored again making it move from a draw to 2:1 so we were desparate to score again. In the last 30 seconds we had another goal attempt, but unfortunately it missed. The score was 2-1 to Langtree.
It was a very close game against a particularly good team so we were pleased with the results. The player of the match was Emma.
The umpire, Claire Heard, congratulated us on our stamina since we had played three matches back to back and the other teams had only played one each!
Netball Match Report (4 of 3) - Tuesday 5th December - Written by Paige & Alexis
Paige: On 5th December, we played our final league netball match against Langtree and the team players were Alexis S, Megan S, Tilly C, Emma W, Paige D, Indi L and Nancy B, with Alexis S as Captain. During the first quarter it was tough and very competitive by the time the six minutes were up the score was nil all. In the second quarter, Langtree had picked up the pace and they scored making it 1:0 to them.
Alexis: During the third quarter we were eager to score at the end no one had scored so it remained 1:0. In the last quarter we had to still work hard on defence but shoot more accurately by taking our time more. It was pretty intense Langtree tried to score but missed then Indi scored 2 excellent goals making it a draw 2 all. With 30 seconds to go Langtree had scored again. After the last quarter the score was set 3:2 Langtree had won.
The player of the match was Paige.
